University of Bath honoured in Sunday Times awards

The University of Bath has been named as university of the year by the Sunday Times newspaper.

The award is designed to recognise a university's all-round excellence, in areas including research, teaching, employability and the student experience.

Vice chancellor, Prof Glynis Breakwell, said it was "prestigious honour" and a "fantastic achievement" for Bath.

A formal announcement of the award will be made in the paper on 11 September.

The paper also provides a league table of British universities and lists Bath at fifth out of 122 UK universities and colleges - its highest ever position.

The guide's league table is compiled using a number of criteria including student satisfaction, research quality, academic peer review, entrance qualifications held by new students, degree results achieved, drop-out rates and graduate employment levels.
