Man, 89, evacuated after Cheltenham suspected arson

An 89-year-old man was evacuated from his home following a suspected arson attack in Gloucestershire.

The fire service said it was called to Hester's Way Road, Cheltenham, at about 01:50 BST after reports of a large tree fire.

The man was evacuated from his property amid concerns the blaze would spread to the house.

A spokesman said it was an "extremely dangerous and irresponsible thing to do" and that police were investigating.
