Rescue of boys, 11 and 12, stuck in mud off Portishead

A rescue operation is under way after two boys became stuck in the mud off Portishead.

Police, fire, ambulance and coastguard services were called after the boys, aged 11 and 12, got into difficulty while playing at Battery Point.

The services are currently trying to rescue the 12-year-old. The 11-year-old was rescued and taken to shore.

It was initially feared the boys could be swept out to sea but that is no longer thought to be a danger.
