Fire at car body shop in Bridgwater 'under control'
A car body shop in Bridgwater has been severely damaged by a fire which started early on Thursday morning.
The blaze broke out at about 05:45 GMT at a firm at the Showground Business Park near junction 24 of the M5.
Firefighters said the fire was now under control, but the roof of the building had partially collapsed.
Earlier a 200m exclusion zone was set up as a precautionary measure because it was believed pressurised gas cylinders were stored inside.
Nearby buildings were also evacuated and the road was closed.
The fire service said the business was closed at the time the fire started and no-one was injured.
A Devon and Somerset Fire And Rescue Service spokesperson said fire crews "were likely to be at the scene for some time" until it had been confirmed that an acetylene cylinder in the building was safe.
Eight fire appliances and more than 40 firefighters were called out to tackle the blaze.
