Protesters who set up camp on council land in Queen Square, Bath, say they are preparing to move on.

The campaigners - who are opposed to financial inequality and politicians' handling of the economy - have been at the site since 30 October.

Occupy Bath's Facebook page said the group would be packing up from 11:00 GMT on Saturday.

The protest is part of an international anti-capitalist and anti-poverty movement.

Members of the Bath group held a meeting on Friday evening to discuss the logistics of dismantling the camp.

On the Facebook page the group thanked people for their support but did not give a reason for ending the protest.

A spokesman for the Liberal Democrat-controlled Bath and North East Somerset Council said it planned to send in teams to clean the Georgian square once the campaigners had gone.
