Plan for 500 new homes in Crewkerne approved

Plans to build 526 homes on greenfield land in Somerset have been approved by South Somerset District Council.

The estate north east of Crewkerne will also include shops, a primary school and 100 affordable homes.

Council leader Ric Pallister said: "The town has been virtually unanimous in its support for this. Only two people spoke out against it last night [at the meeting]."

Link roads between the A30 and A356 will also be built to ease traffic.
