Glastonbury Festival boss Michael Eavis plans to give his Somerset office to a children's charity when the festival takes a break next year.

Barnardo's South West will take over the ground floor of the festival's pink-painted office on Northload Street, in the town, during 2012.

Mr Eavis said he was making the offer to the charity "for the wonderful work they do".

A Barnardo's spokeswoman said it was "extremely grateful" for the offer.

Barnardo's Somerset Family Outreach Team is to move into the office later.

The team of paid staff and volunteers offer help, advice and support for families experiencing a variety of challenges.

Rachel Austin, from the charity's south west regional office, said: "The outreach team have been based in Shepton Mallet and we'd have needed to search for new premises come March.

"And any savings we can make against the cost of premises the more we can put back directly into the work we do."
