Museum of Somerset attracts 32,000 visitors

The Museum of Somerset has had 32,000 visitors since its re-opening in July after a three-year refurbishment.

One of the factors of success has been put down to the Frome Hoard display which was bought by the museum.

Museum managers have said they are now focussed on booking short-term events and exhibitions around the main programmes for 2012.

About £7m was spent on the revamp with £4.8m grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and £1.8m from the county council.
