Gritting teams are preparing for another cold night after snow showers caused some disruption in Somerset.

The Taunton 25b bus service had to terminate at Bampton as snow meant it was unable to proceed through to Dulverton.

Elsewhere, Porlock Hill had to be closed due to wind blowing snow off adjacent fields.

Drivers are being warned to take care as up to 5cm (2in) of snow is expected to fall across parts of the West.

Somerset County Council has 23 gritting vehicles which it sends out in the worst of the weather to salt the roads.

Updates are broadcast via its Somerset Gritter feed on Twitter which gained its 500th follower on Friday.
