North Somerset schools get £10m expansion cash

About £10m is to be spent by North Somerset Council to improve and expand schools in the area.

Six primary schools and one special school across the region will benefit from the cash injection.

Ashcombe Primary School, in Weston, is the largest beneficiary with nearly £5m to be spent on a new 420-place school to open by September 2013.

A council spokesman said it was investing in schools to "fit the demands of our increasing population".
