Somerset carers service launched by Compass Disability

Carers across Somerset are to receive dedicated support and advice through a new service being launched by a Somerset-based charity.

Compass Disability has been chosen by the county council to run the service, called Compass Carers, at a cost of £400,000 a year.

Chief executive Richard Pitman said the service would provide a team of carer support workers.

The charity has estimated there are 50,000 unrecognised carers in Somerset.
