A fire has broken out in the roof of a small village primary school.

The blaze at Buckland St Mary Church of England Primary School, near Chard, Somerset, started at around 19:50 BST on Tuesday.

A spokeswoman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said five fire engines attended the stone school building.

She added that no casualties have been reported.

The fire was confined to the roof of the building and the rest of the school is being assessed by fire investigators.
