Horse found mutilated in field in north Somerset

A horse has been found badly mutilated in a field in north Somerset.

The 21-year-old animal was found bleeding in a field in Clevedon Lane between Portishead and Clevedon on Monday.

The mare had been cut using a blade "similar to a Stanley knife or razor", a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Constabulary Horse Watch said.

The horse's owner described the attack as "just revolting" and said she was in a "state of shock".
