Keynsham regeneration: Free parking introduced

Free parking has been introduced in a Somerset town to help traders during the "difficult" period of a £34m regeneration project.

About 30 two-hour free spaces have been created at the 67-space Labbott car park in Keynsham.

It follows a campaign by local traders to help boost trade.

Bath and North East Somerset Council said it had been introduced on a trial basis during the construction of the new town hall site.

Leader of the council, Paul Crossley, said: "I've been listening to local traders who have been telling me what will make a difference to them during this difficult period whilst the town centre regeneration takes place and the council has responded with action."

The regeneration scheme is due to be completed in Autumn 2014.
