A former mayor of Weston-super-Mare has been jailed for 14 months for having indecent images of children.

Philip Judd, also a former vice-chair of North Somerset Council, admitted 14 offences of making indecent photographs of a child and possessing prohibited images at Bristol Crown Court in June.

The court was told he possessed 151 films and 200 images of children.

Judd, 59, was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court. His name will be added to the sexual offenders register.

Judd, from Weston-super-Mare, served as the town's mayor between 2010 and 2011.

He was elected as North Somerset Council vice-chairman in May 2013 but resigned just a month later.
