Bruton hit-and-run: Two arrested over fatal collision

Two people have been arrested in connection with the death of an 84-year-old Somerset man who was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop.

David Hick was found lying in Cole Road, Bruton, with head injuries on Tuesday, and later died.

A man in his 40s and a woman in her 30s, from South Somerset, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop and failing to report a crash.

They remain in police custody.

Police are continuing their search for a black Chrysler Grand Voyager, believed to have left the scene without stopping

Anyone with information about the vehicle - registration number DS02 NH1 - should contact Yeovil CID.

Mr Hick, a retired engineer, was walking to a local shop with his two dogs when he was struck by the car.
