Lorry driver hit and killed on M5 near Taunton

A lorry driver was killed when he got out of his cab and was hit by another lorry on the M5 near Taunton.

It happened on the northbound carriageway near Taunton Deane services at about 02:30 GMT, a spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said.

Officers said the man, in his late 50s, had got out of his cab after his lorry had hit the central reservation. He died at the scene, a spokesman said.

The driver of the second lorry has been spoken to by police.

The motorway has been fully reopened after it was closed northbound earlier.
