Takeover at Bath Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases

A hospital with debts of up to £2m in Bath has been taken over by the trust running the city's Royal United Hospital (RUH).

The 25-bed Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases (RNHRD) is said to be too small to generate enough income to cover costs.

The hospital provides rehabilitation and care for rheumatoid arthritis sufferers from across the UK.

Health regulator Monitor said the RUH would "maintain and enhance services".
