Man in court over Bridgwater mother and child attack

A man has appeared in court charged with a sexual assault in which a mother and child were tied up and held at knifepoint.

The pair were held at their home in Sydenham, Bridgwater, on 21 January.

Mark Lester, 59, of Riverside Close, Bridgwater, faces two charges of false imprisonment, two counts of sexual assault and one count of attempted robbery.

He was remanded in custody at Taunton Magistrates' Court.

He was ordered to appear before the town's crown court on 20 March.
