Weston-super-Mare seafront to get 125 beach huts
Permission has been granted for more than 100 beach huts on the sea front in Weston-super-Mare.
A meeting of North Somerset Council's planning committee approved the plans for 28 wooden huts at Marine Parade and a further 97 on The Promenade.
A council spokesman said the authority was now looking at a timescale to introduce the huts.
He added it would not be possible to buy one as they will be offered on a one-year lease to the highest bidder.
Councillor Ian Porter, head of the planning committee, brushed off criticism that the huts may get in the way and ruin the view.
"It's a trial and if they're not in the right location we'll certainly look at moving them," he said.
"It's a great thing for the sea front and people can use them and benefit from them and have a great time while they're in Weston."
