Second man arrested in Somerset murder inquiry

A second man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 55-year-old woman from Somerset.

The 19-year-old has been detained by police on suspicion of assisting an offender, police have said.

A 22-year-old man also remains in police custody after he was arrested on Monday on suspicion of murder.

The woman, who has been named locally as Joanna Doman, was taken to hospital with serious head injuries on Sunday and died the following day.

Police were called to the house in Hillside View, Peasedown St John, on Sunday due to concerns for her wellbeing.

Det Insp Lorna Dallimore said: "Firstly, I would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding whilst our investigation continues.

"I would also like to appeal for anyone who may have information regarding this incident to come forward immediately."

A post-mortem examination has got under way to establish the cause of death.
