Teenager killed in crash with police car in Sheffield

A teenage pedestrian has been run over and killed by a police patrol car close to Sheffield University.

The 19-year-old man was hit by a panda car on Broad Lane at about 0345 BST. He died at the scene, police said.

A police spokeswoman said the victim, who lives in Sheffield, was with two other people when he was hit.

It is believed the police car was helping the ambulance service with a priority incident at the time of the crash.

The police watchdog, the Independent Police Complaints Commission, has been informed.

Witnesses or anyone with information are being asked to contact police.
