Rotherham Mushroom Roundabout night closures

One of Rotherham's busiest routes is to be closed during the night over the next two months.

Aldwarke Lane and Herringthorpe Valley Road will be closed, where they meet at the Mushroom Roundabout, from 14 March between 2000 GMT and 0600 GMT.

The closure will allow resurfacing work to be carried out as new traffic lights are installed at the junction.

Diversion routes will be in place to guide motorists who have been warned by Rotherham council to expect delays.

The council also warned drivers that because there are low bridges on the diversion route they should pay close attention to the varied diversion signing for different height vehicles.

It said the new traffic lights on the roundabout should ease congestion, improve bus journey times and provide better pedestrian and cycle facilities.
