Barnsley river body thought to be missing Gary Haines

A body has been found in a South Yorkshire river, with officers believing it to be that of a man missing since December.

Police said the man, thought to be Gary Haines, was found in the River Dearne in the Lundwood area of Barnsley on Sunday afternoon.

Mr Haines, 52, was last seen alive on Priory Road in the Lundwood area of the town on 6 December.

Mr Haines was understood to have lived in supported accommodation in the town.
