Jobs created with new bus routes in South Yorkshire

Dozens of news jobs are being created as three new bus routes are introduced in South Yorkshire.

From May, First will run a service between Rotherham and Barnsley, via the Dearne Valley, and new routes to serve Scawsby and Sprotbrough.

The company said it would result in 39 new jobs for bus drivers.

First managing director Bob Hamilton said it was part of plans to increase the number of bus passengers in the region.

Mr Hamilton said: "The Dearne Valley has many businesses, colleges and schools that need better transport links and we are keen to provide a high frequency service that introduces these new and improved transport links.

"In Doncaster we are looking to provide more direct services that cover residential areas in Scawsby and Sprotbrough."
