Pedestrian dies in Stocksbridge bus accident

A man died when he was hit by a bus as he crossed a road in South Yorkshire.

The Optare bus was travelling uphill on Bracken Moor Lane, Stocksbridge, when the incident happened at 1820 GMT on Saturday.

The pedestrian, a 52-year-old man from Deepcar, is thought to have started to cross the road before he was knocked down.

The 24-year-old bus driver from Sheffield was not hurt, South Yorkshire Police said.
