Officers investigating the murder of a South Yorkshire man who died from a stab wound to the chest said he was married with a young child.

Zabihullah Rafiq, 30, known as Zabi, was found early on Sunday just yards from his Sheffield home after finishing a shift at Pizza Pronto.

Mr Rafiq had lived in the Bankwood block of flats on Callow Mount in the Gleadless Valley area of the city.

He was originally from Afghanistan and had been in the UK for 10 years.

A post-mortem examination was conducted on Sunday evening.

Det Supt Andy Thompson said: "Our thoughts are with Zabi's family at this extremely difficult time and we are urging anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward to assist our ongoing murder investigation.

"Zabi worked at Pizza Pronto on Glossop Road opposite the Royal Hallamshire Hospital."

Senior detectives are looking for a motive for the stabbing and have been conducting house-to-house inquiries.
