Sheffield girl injured in Darnall accident

A seven-year-old girl suffered "life-threatening" injuries when she was hit by a car as she crossed a road on her scooter in Sheffield, police have said.

The child collided with the side of a Vauxhall Astra as she crossed Shirland Lane in Darnall from in front of a parked car on Wednesday afternoon.

She was taken to Sheffield Children's Hospital with a serious head injury, a broken pelvis and a fractured leg.

The car driver, a 61-year-old man from Handsworth, was not injured.

South Yorkshire Police would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident or the girl or the car immediately before the collision.
