Five people have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 19-year-old man in Sheffield.

Police said the man, who has not been formally identified, was found injured by a passer-by in Holgate Avenue in the Parsons Cross area at about 00:30 BST.

He was taken to the Northern General Hospital but later died.

Three men and two youths have now been arrested. A post-mortem test was carried out, but detectives have not yet released the results.

Formal identification of the victim is expected to take place on Sunday.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said it was believed the 19-year-old had earlier been at a function at the White Horse Pub in Halifax Road and left there at about 23:00 to make his way home towards the Ecclesfield area.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
