Work starts to repair flood-hit Barnsley road

Work to repair a South Yorkshire road badly damaged by flooding in 2007 is to get under way.

Barnsley Council said it had taken some time to agree government funding to repair part of the A6195 Park Spring Road but work would start on Thursday.

Repairs involve stabilising 130m (425ft) of the road embankment, north-west of Ings Lane Bridge.

A temporary speed limit of 40mph will be in place. The council said repairs would take ten weeks.
