Rotherham's first solar farm given go-ahead by council

Rotherham's first solar farm has been given the go-ahead by the council.

Planning approval was granted after haulage company John Fillingham Services submitted plans for a 10-acre greenfield site.

The solar farm will be used to provide electricity to the company and potentially sell surplus electricity to the National Grid.

Work on the site has already begun and is expected to be finished within the next few months.

The solar farm will include 20 south-facing solar panels which range in height from 0.9m (3ft) to 1.5m (5ft).
