Attempted murder arrests after Barnsley attack

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an attack in Barnsley which left a man with serious head injuries.

Two men, aged 19 and 20, were on Peel Street in the early hours when they were were assaulted by the occupants of an Audi A4 and a Vauxhall Combo.

Police said as the Audi drove off, it collided with the 20-year-old, causing him to become trapped under the car.

Two Sheffield men, both 22, are being questioned.

South Yorkshire Police said the attack happened at about 02:30 BST.

A spokeswoman said the injured man was being treated at Barnsley District Hospital.

The 19-year-old man suffered facial injuries but did not go to hospital.

Witnesses or anyone with information to the incident should contact police.
