Two jailed over death of John Dawson

A man has been jailed for life for the murder a man from Barnsley.

The body of John Dawson, 57, was found at his home in Highstone Avenue, Worsbrough Common in February following a violent assault.

Adrian Beevers, 42, was found guilty of murder at Sheffield Crown Court and was jailed for life with a minimum term of 16 years.

Gary Evans, 43, will serve a minimum of 10 years for manslaughter.

Speaking on behalf of the victim's family, daughters Claire Dawson, 37, and Amanda Sheard, 38, from Barnsley said: "It's so hard to put into words what effect the murder of my dad has had on us and our family.

"We hope, whilst they are in prison, they reflect on that and feel ashamed. They have robbed us of a son, dad and granddad."
