South Yorkshire Police recruits for junior officer scheme
Young people in Doncaster are being encouraged to join the Police Community Support scheme.
Children aged between 10 and 13 in Balby Bridge near Doncaster are being given the opportunity to spend 12 weeks with South Yorkshire Police.
The South Yorkshire Police scheme was initially piloted last year in Wheatley.
The force said the project in Balby Bridge would focus on raising awareness on cultural differences.
PC Emma Bloodworth, who is organising the scheme, said: "It aims to teach young people about the implications of their actions, preventing anti-social behaviour and having respect for themselves and others."
The force said it would look at race and religion in the project because of the diverse nationalities within the community.
The scheme will focus on a variety of themes including, crime, consequences, environment, safety and community engagement, visiting the police and fire stations.
