Police are patrolling the park where a 13-year-old girl was fatally stabbed on Tuesday.

Casey-Lyanne Kearney died after dialling 999 for help following the attack in Elmfield Park.

Hannah Bonser, 26, of Cusworth House, Doncaster, has been charged with her murder and two counts of possession of a bladed article.

South Yorkshire Police said officers were at the park to try and find new witnesses.

The park was the scene of a candlelit vigil in memory of Casey-Lyanne on Thursday evening.

Before the vigil, which was attended by hundreds of people, police officers escorted members of the teenager's family to the park.

Officers said it was so they could have some time alone before the vigil.

Det Supt Terry Mann, who is leading the investigation, said officers would remain in the park throughout the weekend.

He said: "We've been encouraged by the public's response, but we are still appealing for more witnesses to come forward."

Casey-Lyanne, from Rossington, was on her way to meet a friend when she was stabbed at about 13:15 GMT on Tuesday.

She was treated at the scene in Elmfield Park by police and paramedics before being taken by ambulance to hospital where she died at 21:25 GMT.
