More than 30 firefighters have tackled a large blaze in Rotherham at a former furniture store, which has partially collapsed.

Crews were sent to the derelict building on College Road, Masborough, at about 10:00 GMT.

The fire service said parts of College Road remained closed and urged people to avoid the area because of smoke drifting from the building.

An investigation is under way to establish the cause of the fire.

The fire service said the roof and one side of the building had collapsed.

The property contains some furniture and carpet, and neighbouring flats have been advised to keep windows and doors closed.
