Mobility scooter driver injured in crash with HGV

A 92-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries when his mobility scooter was in collision with an HGV.

It is thought the collision occurred when the man used a pelican crossing by the A6135 Barnsley Road in Sheffield at about 11:50 GMT on Thursday.

The elderly man is now being treated at the Northern General Hospital.

The 22-year-old HGV driver did not sustain any injuries in the accident. Police have appealed for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.
