Body in boot murder: Doncaster man jailed
A 63-year-old man has been jailed for life for the murder of his estranged wife whose body was found in the boot of a car in Barnsley.
Joy Billam, 46, was found dead on Doncaster Road last October.
Raymond Billam, from Guildford Road, Doncaster, was told at Sheffield Crown Court that he must serve a minimum of 18 years.
A 16-year-old boy who had pleaded guilty to assisting an offender will be sentenced at a later date.
Mrs Billam's body was found in the boot of her purple Ford Fiesta Fusion, which was parked on Doncaster Road. Post-mortem results revealed she had died from strangulation.
Det Ch Insp Sean Middleton said: "This is particularly tragic case that has devastated Joy's family.
"I sincerely hope Joy's family can now come to terms with her death and find some closure."
In a statement, her sons, Tony and Lee, said: "Whilst what has happened today will never bring our mum back, we are naturally delighted that Raymond Billam has been convicted of our mum's murder.
"Our mum loved her grandchildren so very much; she was so full of life and happy when around them. They will never see her again due to his spitefulness and jealousy."
