A 22-year-old man has been jailed for a minimum of 10 years for the manslaughter of a Sheffield man.

James Lewis Knowles, 22, from Deerpark Road in Stannington, was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court.

Mubarak Ali, from Headford Grove in Broomhall, was found with stab wounds in Crowther Place in the Mount Pleasant Park area of the city on 30 September.

The 24-year-old had been stabbed outside a barber's shop in Abbeydale Road.

Mr Ali died later that day at the Northern General Hospital.

Det Supt Int Terry Mann, of South Yorkshire Police, said: "Even at this stage, following a lengthy investigation and subsequent court hearing, we are no closer to establishing the motive behind this crime, but I am confident that it was not a random attack.

"This once again shows the dangers of young men arming themselves with weapons."

South Yorkshire Police said they would continue to work with Sheffield City Council and other agencies to improve community relations.
