More than 150 extra police officers were on patrol in the steel city as Sheffield Wednesday gained automatic promotion to the Championship.

The Owls beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 in front of a packed Hillsborough to secure second place in League One.

Sheffield United travelled to Exeter City where they drew 2-2. The Blades finished third and will now face Stevenage in the play-offs.

South Yorkshire Police said they had made a small number of arrests.

Supt Jason Harwin, leading the operation, said: "So far the vast majority of fans are in good spirits.

"Fans, think about your actions. I would hate anybody to do anything daft."
