Men hurt in Stainforth police pursuit crash

Two men were hurt when a stolen car was in a crash with a digger during a police pursuit.

Police said the men, both 19, were suspected of stealing from a shop in Thorne, near Doncaster. They were followed when the car failed to stop.

The crash happened on Station Road, Stainforth, at about 13:00 BST.

One man suffered a serious head injury. The other, who was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, suffered cuts and bruises.

The man with head injuries is being treated at Leeds General Infirmary after being taken there by air ambulance.

South Yorkshire Police said the driver of the digger was not injured.

The force has urged witnesses to the crash to come forward.
