Man jailed for manslaughter of woman in Sheffield
A 25-year-old man has been cleared of murdering a warehouse supervisor he strangled in Sheffield.
Martin Vernarksy was instead found guilty at Sheffield Crown Court of the manslaughter of Hungarian national Ildiko Dohany, 34.
Vernarsky, of Claywood Road, Sheffield, was jailed for six years.
Police found Ms Dohany's body next to her car at Vernarsky's house on 9 September, the court heard. Both had worked at a warehouse in Atercliffe.
Police said Vernarsky had become obsessed with Ms Dohany.
Det Insp Robin Pearson, of South Yorkshire Police, said: "We respect the manslaughter verdict of the jury following what has been a lengthy investigation."
