M1 motorway near Sheffield reopens after major crash

The M1 motorway in South Yorkshire has reopened after a crash involving a lorry and several cars.

The vehicles collided on the southbound carriageway between junction 31 for the A57 to Sheffield and junction 30 at about 05:00 GMT, police said.

One of the cars caught fire and the lorry went into a ditch but nobody was seriously injured.

A diversion operated during the closure of the motorway but all lanes were reopened at about 15:00 GMT.
