M1 closed near Sheffield after pedestrian hit by lorry
The M1 motorway was closed in South Yorkshire after a pedestrian was struck by a lorry on the carriageway.
South Yorkshire Police said the crash happened at junction 34 near Meadowhall at about 11:45 GMT.
The motorway was closed in both directions between junction 34 and 35 at Thorpe Hesley. Both carriageways had reopened by 13:30.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service said a man had been taken to Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
Police said the 18-year-old man from Barnsley ran across the southbound carriageway to the central reservation.
He then attempted to run across the northbound carriageway but was hit by a lorry and sustained serious injuries.
