Eastwood man arrested over Hoyland driveway attack

A man has been charged in connection with an attack that left another man critically ill in hospital.

The victim, 49, suffered head injuries when he was assaulted after confronting a man on his driveway on Skiers View Road, Hoyland, on Sunday.

South Yorkshire Police said a 33-year-old man from the Eastwood area had been charged with burglary and causing grievous bodily harm.

He is due to appear at Barnsley Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

A police spokesman said the injured man remained in a critical but stable condition at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
