Rotherham Rottweiler attack girl's family 'devastated'

The family of a two-year-old girl savaged by a Rottweiler in Rotherham have said they are "devastated" by the attack.

The girl, from Rawmarsh, was taken to Rotherham General Hospital on Tuesday with a split earlobe and leg wounds.

The family of the girl, who has not been named, said the attack was "hugely traumatic".

They have given their permission for the dog, believed to be a family pet, to be destroyed.

Police believe the girl was with an adult female relative on Thorogate, Rotherham, and the dog was on a lead when she was bitten.

She has since been transferred to Sheffield Children's Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.
