Train hits cow causing delays between Doncaster and York

A train bound for London hit a cow, causing delays between Doncaster and York for more than three hours.

Operator East Coast said the train was travelling from Glasgow when it struck the animal, causing damage to the front of the locomotive.

A spokesperson said a rescue locomotive had been sent in case the damaged train needed to be recovered.

Trains are now moving again on both the northbound and southbound tracks. No-one has been injured.
