Three arrested over child abuse in Rotherham and Sheffield
Three men have been arrested in connection with child abuse in Sheffield and Rotherham.
The trio, aged 21, 23 and 28, were held on suspicion of committing child sexual exploitation offences against underage girls between 2005 and 2009.
The 28-year-old and 23-year-old were arrested in the Hackenthorpe and Arbourthorne areas of Sheffield. The 21-year-old was arrested in Leeds.
The men are currently in police custody and will be questioned by detectives.
At least 1,400 children were subjected to appalling sexual exploitation in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013, a report published in August found.
Children as young as 11 were raped by multiple perpetrators, abducted, trafficked to other English cities, beaten and intimidated, the Jay report said.
