Barnsley fatal crash victim, 85, named as Ruth Cocker

An 85-year-old woman who died after the car she was in crashed into a wall in Barnsley has been named by police.

Ruth Elizabeth Cocker, from Birdwell, was taken to hospital where she later died.

The crash happened at 23:00 GMT on Wednesday on Sheffield Road at Hoyland Common.

Three other people in the car, an 82-year-old woman, a 77-year-old woman and a 67-year-old man, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
