A speeding driver who killed three people when he ploughed into a group of pedestrians has been jailed.

Ricky Joe Hepworth, 24, was driving at 50mph in a 20mph in Sutton Road, Doncaster, when he crashed the Volvo S60 on Boxing Day last year.

Andrew Tomlinson, 48, wife Faye, 54, and Mandy Deere, 54, were killed. Ms Deere's husband, John, was injured.

Hepworth, who admitted three counts of causing death by dangerous driving, was sentenced to eight years.

The defendant, of Newmarche Drive in Askern, pleaded guilty at an earlier Sheffield Crown Court hearing.

He also pleaded guilty to three counts of causing a death while driving uninsured and unlicensed, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
